Mike started guiding skiing in 2001 in Silverton, Colorado. In 2003 he started heli guiding in Valdez, Alaska where he became snow safety director for Valdez Heli Camps. Mike has guided heli-ski trips in Alaska off the Knik Glacier, in the Tordrillo Mountains, and the College Fjord on a boat assisted heli trip, skiing three of the highest peaks in the
In 2012 Mike started guiding and currently guides for SEABA Heli in Haines, AK. He also guides heli-skiing in Iceland for Eleven and Chile for Valle Nevado.
Pre heli season Mike instructs avalanche courses for the Silverton Avalanche School as well as serves on the school’s board of directors.
He is a professional member of the American Avalanche Association, a guide member of US Heli-Ski association, he has his level 3 AIARE certification, Wilderness First Responder medical certification, and AIARE instructor training course level 1.
At his home in Silverton Mike's wife Sallie teaches second and third grade and he has two daughters Kate and Betsy.
