This 8 week camp will offer ample opportunity to build a foundation of skills or take their climbing to the next level. Each day will be full of hands-on experience and personalized instruction. This team-based camp is designed for local kids of CB to build rock skills, team skills, and explore their backyards. All abilities and skill levels are welcome. This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to develop climbing skills, strength, mobility, and confidence as well as new relationships with other children who share similar interests.

Consistently ranked as one of top mountain biking trails in the country, the full Monarch Crest Mountain Biking Trail connects several trails to combine for over 35 miles of predominately descending, over 6,000 feet of descent in total.  The trail starts with a shuttle drive to 11,312 feet at the top of Monarch Crest and spends the first few miles traversing along an alpine ridge with exceptional views of the Sawatch, San Juan, Elk, and Sangre de Cristo mountain ranges.  After riding up and down through this above treeline section, it connects to the Silver Creek and Rainbow trails for thousands of feet of descending all the way back to the Arkansas River Valley.  Not sure that you’re ready for the full ride?  It can easily be made easier using a different descent trail, or ridden as an out-and-back trail along the scenic and fun alpine section from Monarch Pass.

Colorado has more peaks over 14,000 feet than the rest of the United States combined!  Locally known as the 14ers, these peaks have made Colorado a mountain climbing destination.  Come experience the challenge and the views of climbing a 14er with Irwin Guides.

Whether it is your first mountaineering excursion or you are a seasoned veteran looking for a challenge, our guides can offer you a safe, fun, experience. Explore the 14ers of the Sawatch Range, which in the summer are non-technical and a great first 14er experience for any hiker.  They can also be climbed via snow routes in the spring time, using snowshoes or skis, crampons, and ice axes.  Or try one of the coveted Crestones routes, two of the hardest summits of any of the Colorado 14ers.  Crestone Peak and Crestone Needle can be climbed separately or combined into a single day, one of Colorado’s 4 “Great Traverses”.  Crestone Peak is also home to the Ellingwood Arete, one of the 50 Classic Climbs of North America.

Surrounded by pristine rivers and spectacular mountains, it is easy to see why so many come for the fishing and stay for the scenery. Whether you’re interested in chasing rainbows and browns on the Gunnison River, or moving through pocket water on our smaller streams, our guides will be by your side to share their wealth of knowledge on our local watershed. Choose from a walk wade trip, float trip, or multi-day combination of both, depending on your preferences.

Want to stay cool this summer? Stand up paddling, also known as SUPing, is an exciting and new way to have fun on water. There’s no better way to relax and appreciate your surroundings than to paddle board. For those looking for a relaxing adventure, our lake SUPing is the way to go. You will learn how to stand and kneel on the board, as well as necessary paddling techniques.

The Gunnison River is the perfect place for a relaxed float on the river for all ages. Scenic and mellow, with the opportunity to enjoy the Whitewater Park for big splashes and smiles. Lunch is included and we’ll stop for a riverside picnic along the way.  The Gunnison River is a great introduction to rafting, offering class I, II, & III rapids. 

Crested Butte is home to dozens of peaks from mild to wild, with summits that reach to 12,000 and 13,000 feet.  These peaks range from moderate hikes to technical mountaineering adventures with many secluded summits that are rarely visited.  Let our guides pick the perfect level of challenge for you! Our technical peak options involve using ropes, harnesses, and helmets for safety on the more difficult climbing portions of the route. Mt. Crested Butte offers an incredible introduction to mountaineering on the Guides Ridge route, and riding a ski lift to over 11,000 feet lets you skip the hiking and focus on the climbing, no experience necessary!  You can escape the crowds by climbing the Southwest Slabs of Avery Peak all the way to it’s seldom visited summit or take on the challenge of the Ruby Traverse and try to climb all 9 summits of the Ruby Range in 1 or 2 days. Non-technical peaks are moderate or strenuous day hikes to one of the many classic peaks in Crested Butte like Mt. Emmons, Gothic Mountain, Mt. Bellview, or Teocalli Mountain.  No matter what your interests, our guides can find the perfect peak for you or your group.
