Team up with your backcountry partners to get the most out of this course

Why Take AIARE Courses with Us

  • Smaller class sizes

  • Highest-caliber instructors with supplemental certifications and experience managing avalanche terrain, i.e. Ski Patrol

  • Curriculum that prioritizes experiential learning by skiing laps on tour days and scouting out powder. No snowshoeing.

  • Excellent access to terrain and trailheads just 15 minutes from the classroom

  • Added resource of the local avalanche center

The AIARE Avalanche Rescue Course is a 1-day, scenario-based course. Practicing avalanche rescue skills is a crucial part of being a reliable backcountry ski partner. This course will provide each participant with the opportunity to receive professional coaching on their rescue skills.

The AIARE 1 Refresher course is an opportunity to gain practice leading a backcountry tour in a mentored setting. This one-day, field-based course is geared toward backcountry travelers who have previously taken an AIARE 1 or equivalent course, though it may have been some time ago. The course provides students with a chance to practice each element of the AIARE Decision-Making Framework as they plan and lead a backcountry tour, practice companion rescue, and make a plan to continue their avalanche education. If you’re returning to formal avalanche education for the first time in years or setting off on the right foot with a new group of travel partners, this course was created for you.
