Ski mountaineering combines skiing with technical rock skills in a unique way. Whatever your goals and aspirations, Irwin Guides can plan a custom guided Ski Mountaineering trip for you.

Intermediate ski/ride level required. The Crested Butte area offers a wide variety of technical approaches. If you’re just getting into ski mountaineering or are seeking legendary lines, Irwin Guides will set you up for success.

We suggest bringing a backpack – rental available, layers, water, snacks, ski or snowboard boots, skis or split board, skins, poles, and avalanche safety gear – available for rent.



Crested Butte has multiple 3,000 foot ski descents, some with almost 50 degree slope angles. 



Late March to early June provides the best conditions for ski mountaineering.
