Relax in the solitude of a private mountain hut after a day of exploring pristine skiing terrain
Ski the classic Elk Mountains Traverse from Aspen to Crested Butte, spending the night at two different huts along the way, and exploring all of the ski terrain that they have to offer. Or choose a 1-3 night trip here in Crested Butte’s backyard ski terrain.
Either way, Irwin Guides backcountry hut trips are private and custom to you. Let us tailor the trip to the group’s desires and ability levels.

Trip Details
Crested Butte Huts
Travel to a Crested Butte area hut for 1-3 nights. The Crystal or Maroon hut are perfect for ski trips and are also accessible by snowshoes and cross-country skis as well. The Friends hut is a more remote hut with a full range of ski terrain from mellow to extreme.
Aspen to Crested Butte
Travel from Aspen to Crested Butte in 2 to 4 nights, staying at the Lindley, Green-Wilson, Tagert, or Friends Huts. Explore all of the skiing terrain the Elk Mountains have to offer by connecting two of these huts on a multi-night adventure!
Prerequisites
Participants should be a solid intermediate skier/rider and feel comfortable with a variable snowpack and ungroomed trails.
Gear
Guests will need a backcountry touring set-up (available for rent – we don’t have boots!), avalanche safety gear (beacon, shovel, and probe), a light sleeping bag, and at least a 40L backpack.
