Crested Butte is a mecca for mountain biking

Crested Butte is one of the birthplaces of mountain biking and is home to some of the best singletrack trails Colorado has to offer. There are more than 450 miles of high alpine mountain bike trails, which means Crested Butte has something for everyone – whether you’re brand new to mountain biking or an experienced rider looking to challenge yourself and hone your skills with one of our trained mountain bike instructors.  The town of Crested Butte sits at 9,000′ allowing for accessible rides through unmatched mountain scenery.  We also offer overnight car-camping and mountain biking trips around the Crested Butte area.  You’ll get to sample a variety of the great biking available and our staff will manage the logistics of moving camp each day to get you riding in a new area.

Women’s Mountain Bike Clinic

Let’s celebrate Women in outdoor spaces! This clinic is open to all levels of riders – we are creating an inclusive space for everyone to develop their skills & meet like minded individuals!

Through this two day clinic we will be covering bike handling skills, bike maintenance, and medical skills. The first days of the clinic (July 16th) will be focused on bike handling skills with certified bike instructors. The skills portion of the clinic will be from 9am-2pm in the area behind the Crested Butte Community School. After a deep dive on these skills, we will go on an optional group ride from 2:30-4:30. This ride will be split into ability levels & enable us to practice our new skills!

Day two of the clinic will be geared towards bike maintenance, trailside repairs, and medical skills. We will hold this clinic at the Irwin Guides headquarters (330 Belleview Ave.) starting at 8:30am. Each clinic will be a three hour segment with a break for lunch in between (12pm-1pm). Each person who attends the maintenance portion will receive a free bottle of Mountain Flow chain lube!

Ali Fuchs from Big Al’s Bicycle Heaven will be hosting the bike maintenance & trailside repairs portion of the clinic. Make sure to give your bike a nice wash before attending – it’s much easier to learn about your bike when it’s clean! Irwin Guides is partnering with Desert Mountain Medicine to provide high quality medical instruction. We are excited to contribute to our community through access to learning, developing skills, and meeting new people!

We will be hosting a raffle with some great prizes to benefit the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association! Bring cash to purchase tickets & support CBMA!

Single Day ($45/day)

July 16th (Bike Handling Skills) OR July 17th (Medical Skills & Bike Maintenance)

Full 2 day Clinic ($80)

Attend both July 16th and 17th
