Recertification Description
Hands-on, meet online. Enjoy our newly formatted Wilderness First Responder Recertification, which includes an online component in addition to the traditional scenarios and skills!
Pre-work allows you to review the curriculum at your own pace, and focus on the hands-on element during your two days on course. You’ll just need to complete all online components, including a written exam, prior to the course.
You’ll learn both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather, so come prepared for wet, muddy, cold or hot environments!

Wilderness First Responder (WFR)
Irwin Guides will offer a WFR next fall (2023)
Wilderness First Responder Recertification (WFRR)
WFRR Hybrid course is a 3 day course. Please take this course 2 years after your original WFR course. Check out the Recertification Policies HERE.
Location
Irwin Guides Backcountry classroom is located near Lake Irwin, just West of Crested Butte, Colorado.
Academic Credit
The WFR Course is approved for 3 college credits through Western Colorado University & the University of Utah.
Camping
Irwin Lake Campground can be reserved in advance HERE and free dispersed camping is available on a first come, first served basis.
