During these four day progressions, professional and certified ski guide course instructors
will cover fundamental mountaineering skills such as: ice axe use, boot and ski crampon
use, self arresting, anchor and belay rappel techniques, glacial travel, mixed climbing, steep
skinning and downhill skiing techniques.
To maximize learning and give each student as much one-on-one time with the
guide/instructor as possible, we keep these courses small and limit the number of
participants to three students. Course locations and chosen ski venues are dependent on
snow and avalanche conditions at the time of the course, but will be loosely based out of
the Crested Butte, Colorado backcountry.
